Busou Shinki – Kohiru – Type Chopsticks

Another Shinki? Yes, another Shinki. This time I obtained Shinki Kohiru due to her high level of almost chibi (shrunk + deformed) like cuteness and because she would make for a great snacking partner due to her Chopstick affiliation. She also came with a “free” parts storage container.

She is a “Light Armor wave 5” (Not to be mistake as Wave 5) figure. She had a Japanese release date of:  February 25, 2010.

I ordered Shinki Kohiru from Hobby Link Japan and apparently made her go on Back-order ^^. Also, according to her box her figure type is a MMS (Mobile Movable System) Type 3 – small. Each figure goes by MMS Type 1-3 for various shapes and sizes. Kohiru happens to be Type 3 and small. And since she is a chopstick types I think she’d do well in Asian themed fast-food and restaurant themed locals ^^.

Kohiru can also be found on Konami’s Shinki-net site here:

The chopsticks actually work! Would I eat from them? I should try at least once, unless the plastic or paint on it will give me some kind of poisoning. I should try it on something that won’t stain, or get stained.

The chopsticks even has a “rest”. Her chopsticks are used as either a sword or as a gun. (White tea pot not included)

Kohiru can choose to walk barefooted or with expensive looking sneakers. The sneakers also has treads on them, nice detail!

Two sided instructions telling you how to put Kohiru’s armor together and what part goes where. I still have to study it as I got parts that I don’t know what goes where.

This image might be pointless but the new Battle Rondo codes (view above reference link) is now encased in black plastic. The code is exposed but doesn’t contain the anti-cheating lottery material that Benio had.

Battle Rondo – Diorama mode:

Sadly, she doesn’t have a Battle Rondo version, yet. She does however have a diorama mode where you can pose her and make wallpaper images in a digital manner. Diorama gets a bit tedious, though, is well worth the mental pain.

And then the size comparison of Benio, Kohiru, and Figma Haruhi. Quite a difference.

Figma Heads (above) and Shinki heads (below) side by side comparison. Sadly, Benio didn’t recieve such treatment back in 2006.

Just like a Figma, Kohiru has two front head pieces and two pack ones. She comes with one extra face piece.

She also comes with two options for chest “plates”. Switching them is a breeze and you can choose which one she could wear at any time.

And a quick look at the stands – Benio’s Stand (left), Figma stand (middle), and Kohiru’s stand (right).

Kohiru looks cute  with her short hair ^^. I wonder if looks are deceiving….

Kohiru has this 1980’s Anime/Sci-fi/fashion vibe with her shoes and armor chest vest. The lengthy triangle piece on both make me think of a modern yet 1980’s mixture of Japanese culture in one cute little figure. No matter how you look at her she’s simply cute.

Thanks for reading up on my mini-review and hope to add to it with another photo-shoot ^^.  Until next time, peace!

Pros:

– Kohiru is painted in beautiful colors and looks cute with all sorts of accessories. Her chopsticks, chest vests, and chopsticks are nicely decorated in a retro-modern color scheme. Her shoes even have treads on them! Attention to detail.
– Came with a free storage box (provided by HobbyLinkJapan).
– Her chopsticks can be stored on her hips. They don’t get stored in an invisible storage space like other figures choose.
– Can change face-plates and head pieces with ease. Works in a similar fashion to Figma figures. Her faceplate sticks firmly into both head and hair piece.
– Kohiru has loose joints which makes it less tedious to pose her.
– Her peg hands are easily swappable and don’t come loose.
– Kohiru gives off this cute little aura/vibe when posing her. As awkward or weird as this may sound, she actually radiates some form of visual aura that helps add to her possible innocence. The red and white makes you want to keep going back to pose her for a long time.
– Kohiru’s chopsticks can actually be used as chopsticks. If it is recommended to be used for food is a bit of a concern as you may get either food or chemical poisoning of some sort. Choice is yours.

– Kohiru’s stand and base is a fraction of the size then what Benio’s stand is.

Cons:

– Kohiru has loose joints which causes her to topple or lose her pose when quickly posing her.
– The stand/base doesn’t swivel like a Figma’s miniature stand/base does.

Woot! Congrats on getting Kohiru and great job on the review 🙂 It’s really a shame that she can’t be used in the game but only diorama studio though, but maybe someday (I’m hopeful). Looks like your shinki collecting is themed so far (all Japanese style) ^^ I can’t stop posing mine either, she doesn’t like to hold still for long XD

@Persocom: Thank you! ^^ Ya, I was looking forward to it but at least she has diorama studio mode. I can wait. And ya, haha. Benio shall turn Canadian in September when I get around to painting her though.

@ battrastard: Heh, they’re nice figures so why not? ^^ Thank you and hope you can acquire one! Hope your gals will like her as well lol.
